Student Information Forms
Thinking about your child's class for next year? The Burroughs Student Information Forms for the 2017-18 school year are available in the office and must be returned to the office by 4 pm on Friday, April 21.

Report Cards
You should be receiving report cards in the mail this week. Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about them.

Concert Dates Correction
Please note the correct dates for fourth- and fifth-grade music concerts:

  • 4th graders: Tuesday, May 16 at 5:30 pm
  • 5th graders: Thursday, May 18 at 5:30 pm
April 25 PTA Meeting

Please join us for our final PTA meeting of the year on Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30 pm, where we will review and approve the PTA budget for the next school year, vote to amend PTA bylaws, and elect officers for 2017-2018. Click here for the full meeting agenda.

All-School Picnic: May 11

Twins Game Is This Friday

Join the Burroughs, Ramsey, Lyndale, and Green Central school communities in cheering on the Minnesota Twins vs. the Detroit Tigers on April 21 at 7:10 pm. Your entire family is invited for fun and baseball. It's a great opportunity to meet new families and new friends outside of the classroom. Seats are limited, so buy yours now! Please visit Melody West in the office to buy seats with a check made out to Burroughs PTA. Tickets are $10 each. Email Lesley Farmer, Burroughs PTA President, with questions. Apply for Site Council by April 24

The Burroughs Site Council is a group composed of parents, staff, and an at-large community representative. The Site Council deals with and gives input on issues related to school operation. These issues may include, but are not limited to, issues relating to the school's mission/vision, budget, facility, staffing, curriculum, parent input, and future direction for the school. Site Council meets monthly (typically the last Tuesday of the month, from 5 pm to 6:30 or 7 pm). Meetings begin in August. Parent representative positions are two-year terms. Parents may participate in two two-year terms. Alternate positions are also available.

If you are interested in serving on Site Council, please email Rachel Gustin by April 24. Please indicate what grade(s) your children are in at Burroughs and give a brief summary of your relevant experience, personal strengths you bring to a team, and positive change you hope to influence.

Fall for Burroughs Auction Co-Chair Needed

The Burroughs Auction committee is looking for a co-chair for the 2017 Fall for Burroughs Auction. A co-chair will work closely with the auction chair, Catherine Lipinsky, and learn the inner workings of the auction, one of Burroughs's biggest fundraisers. This year's Fall for Burroughs Auction and the related Great Gatherings offered throughout the year are expected to raise nearly $80,000 for Burroughs by the end of the school year!

If you are interested in a volunteer position that will significantly impact your child's school, please consider being the auction co-chair. This is a 2-year-commitment: the auction co-chair will roll into the position of auction chair for the following year. Most of the time commitment is during the months of September, October, and November—we achieve major results in a short period of time! Please email Catherine Lipinsky for more information.

Keep the Box Tops Pouring in this April

We had another great month of Box Tops submissions in March totaling $217.10!

Congrats to Mrs. Blossey's third-grade class for bringing in 415 Box Tops! They will celebrate with a board-game party later this month.

Please send in your carefully clipped tops (with code and expiration visible) with your child, and watch the earnings rain down on the bulletin board in the atrium. Because of spring break, the April contest is a short one and runs through April 28.
