Burroughs Bobcats
We have finally decided on a logo to go with our mascot! After a rigorous process of our very artistic and talented students submitting drawings and student voting, the winning drawing was from one of our 2nd graders, Adnan M. When you are visiting the building over the next few weeks, you can check out the entries and see the winner on the TV in our atrium. Go Burroughs Bobcats!

Volunteer Appreciation
Calling all volunteers! So much of what we do could not be done without your support. Please join us on Tuesday, June 6 from 4:00-5:00 pm in the courtyard to celebrate all you do to support our students and staff.

James Avenue
For the safety of all students, if you drop off or pick up on James Ave., please do so at bus sign #8, closer to the bridge. Children can walk to the building from there. Also, please do not pull into the loading dock driveway to turn around.

Drop-off Circle
The drop circle is for families with children in grades k-2 only. Please review the procedures here.

Be a Burroughs "Cheerful Giver" May 15-June 2
Tuesday, May 23, 2017 8:00 AM

The fifth graders need your help! During their Graduation Party, Wednesday, June 14, the fifth grade class will be assembling birthday gift bags as a service project for a non-profit organization called Cheerful Givers. These birthday bags will be distributed to local food shelves and homeless shelters.

From May 15 to June 2, the fifth graders are asking all Burroughs Students to donate small, unwrapped gifts. Click the headline for more information.

To drop off your items, look for the plastic bins with the Smiley Face balloons in the atrium. No wrapping necessary! You can learn more about Cheerful Givers at www.cheerfulgivers.org.

Please contact Dianne McConville or Wendy Brown with questions. Thank you for your support!

Scholastic Book Order for Cheerful Givers Project
Tuesday, May 23, 2017 7:50 AM

Scholastic offers $1 books nearly every month including books in Spanish and featuring diversity. The March, April, May & June fliers are currently available online and offer over 30 $1 books, featuring many award winning, classic and highly rated titles.

If you'd like to contribute to a Scholastic book order donation for the 5th grade Cheerful Givers project, but your child's teacher isn't placing another order this year, please drop your donation in the office by Friday 5/26, or send in your child's folder in an envelope/Ziploc clearly marked "Scholastic Cheerful Givers." The donation order will be placed Friday afternoon and given directly to the Cheerful Givers project coordinators Dianne McConville & Wendy Brown for the 5th graders to assemble in the birthday bags at their graduation party. Checks can be made out to Scholastic.

Request a Kit Now for the Annual Kindergarten Giving Project
Tuesday, May 23, 2017 7:45 AM

In May, the Kindergarten classes will hold their Annual Giving Project. For the past two years the classes have partnered with Sew Good Goods, a local nonprofit, to provide kits for families to sew new handmade pillowcase and baby blankets. Once sewn, these are given as part of the Giving Project to a local shelter. In an effort to increase our donations this year, families can now start requesting kits.
