2018 Read-a-Thon Kicks Off January 31
Tuesday, January 30, 2018 7:30 PM

The 2018 Read-a-Thon opening ceremony kicks off tomorrow. It will be an amazing story!  Join us at 9:30 am in the Burroughs gym where the fifth graders will reveal this year's theme!

On February 1, students will begin tracking their daily reading minutes. At that time, students can ask friends and family for pledges.  Detailed information for all things Read-a-Thon will be included in the packet your child will bring home tomorrow.  Read-a-Thon packets and forms will also be available on the  Burroughs Website after Jan 31.

Fundraising Tips
An easy way to help your child fundraise is to set up a fundraising site on the Burroughs Community School page on Give MN. If you are a family with more than one student at Burroughs, please complete forms and send in funds for each child individually. It helps the tally night go smoothly and ensures that funds are attributed to children correctly.

New This Year!
The week of Feb 5-9 we welcome the return of Camp Read-Away to the Media Center.  Your child may bring a small stuffed animal and a flashlight so they can read around the campfire or in a tent. Sound like fun? Join us! This year, parents are invited to join their child during their media specialist hour and may sign up to be a guest reader during this time.  In addition, a special Read-a-Thon themed photo-op will be unveiled in the Media Center as well.  Come and check it out! To sign up to read in your child's media class, sign up here.

To be a guest reader in your child's classroom, sign up here. Sign up in any available white space on the classroom calendar.  Bring 1-2 favorite books to read.

Thank you for participating in this year's Read-a-Thon. Each child inspired to read, and each dollar raised, positively contributes to our Burroughs community. Funds raised during the Read-a-Thon contribute to a majority of the PTA's annual budget.  Curious about Burroughs' PTA budget, and all that it includes? View it here.
