A Letter from Ms. Bartl
Tuesday, September 27, 2016 8:10 AM

Dear Families,

We had an eventful week last week with the construction on 50th coming to an end, school picture day, and the start of MAP testing. In the week ahead, we look forward to 'Pedal, Paddle Fish Week' for our 3rd graders and our Fall Book Fair.

Over the next few weeks, our students in grades 1-5 will be taking the MAP test in both reading and math. These assessments provide us with information about students' math and reading skills. Teachers use this information as a baseline to inform their instruction and design classroom experiences that meet the learning needs of all students. As a school, we use the data we gain from the MAP tests to look at the academic growth and to help us make programmatic decisions that are in the best interest of our students. Teachers will be sharing individual results of the MAP tests with families at Fall Conferences in mid-October.

Finally, a reminder that on November 8, Minneapolis voters will be asked to renew the school district's current operating referendum authorization, which expires after the 2016-17 school year. If passed, funding would help Minneapolis Public Schools manage class sizes and provide supportive services and activities for students. The request would authorize the referendum for nine years and be annually adjusted for inflation. Property taxes are not projected to increase if the referendum renewal passes. Please feel free to reach out by phone, email, or in person, with any questions that may arise.

Ana Bartl, Principal
