Send In "Cheerful Giver" Donations By June 2
Tuesday, May 30, 2017 8:10 AM

Hooray! Our Burroughs Community is making it happen! If you haven't heard, during their Graduation Party, Wednesday, June 14, the fifth grade class will be assembling birthday gift bags as a service project for a non-profit organization called Cheerful Givers. These birthday bags will be distributed to local food shelves and homeless shelters.

We have been busy collecting donations the past two weeks, but are still in need of more items. From now through June 2, the fifth graders are asking all Burroughs Students to donate small, unwrapped gifts such as:

  • Yo-yos
  • Sidewalk chalk
  • Hand-held fidget items
  • Sunglasses
  • Tattoos, stickers
  • Crayons, markers
  • Decks of cards
  • Matchbox cars
  • Coloring and activity books
  • Reading books and note pads
  • Bubbles
  • Mini frisbees
  • Small package of Legos
  • Play-doh
  • Puzzles
  • Stuffed animals
  • Dolls and beanie babies

The next time you stop at Target, Walgreens, or your favorite store, please pick an item or two to donate and fill your yellow Cheerful Giver bag!

To drop off your items, look for the plastic bins with the Smiley Face balloons in the atrium. No wrapping necessary! You can learn more about Cheerful Givers at www.cheerfulgivers.org.

Please contact Dianne McConville or Wendy Brown with questions. Thank you for your support!
