Burroughs Destination Imagination Teams Advance to State
Tuesday, April 10, 2018 8:40 AM

Congratulations to the fourth-grade "Kids from the Land of 10,000 Winners" and the fifth-grade "YETIs" for advancing to the MN State Destination Imagination competition, which will be held April 14 at Jackson Middle School in Champlin. The teams will participate in the Improv (fourth-grade team) and Scientific (fifth-grade team) challenges. Friends, families, and teachers are welcome to come cheer them on!

Every year for the past five years, Burroughs has sent a team to the state tournament (one year to global finals) and has been the only school from Minneapolis to have ever advanced to this level. For the first time ever, Burroughs will send two teams!

Destination Imagination is a team-based, STEAM focused activity for kids in grades K-12. Student-led teams of four to seven students, along with an adult team manager, solve one of a set of open-ended challenges. All challenges involve writing a creative skit and engineering challenge-specific elements. Students learn research skills, persistence, collaborative problem-solving, and engineering design.

If you are interested in getting involved, please email Thea Reilkoff or Britt Waterman for more information. We will be forming new teams in the fall.
