Burroughs Has a Full-Time Therapist

Beth Hopkins, MSW, LICSW is our onsite therapist, and this is her third year at Burroughs. Beth meets with students and families for therapy, does coaching and coordination with teachers, makes outside referrals, and consults with outside providers. She is currently accepting referrals. 
 
If your family and child could use support or you have any concerns about your child, consider getting in touch with the School Social Worker, Beth Alvarez to make a referral for therapy services. Some common symptoms of mental health concerns include:
  • Anger outbursts
  • Irritability
  • Excessive fears or worry
  • Difficulties with separation
  • Recent changes in sleep, eating, or school performance
  • Big life changes (divorce, moving, loss or illness of a loved one)
  • Loss of interest in friends or activities
  • Visible prolonged sadness
  • Persistent disobedience
  • Extreme hyperactivity
  • Difficulties with concentration or focus
  • Persistent nightmares
  • History of trauma
  • Long lasting negative moods
  • Excessive complaints of physical ailments
  • Difficulties making and maintaining friendships
