Mark your calendars! We’re celebrating our 10th Annual Fall for Burroughs Silent Auction in style at the Minneapolis Events Centers (right across the river from Downtown Mineapolis in St. Anthony Main) on Friday, November 10 at 7pm.

Join Burroughs parents, teachers and staff for a night of drinks and delicious food, fun music, and an exciting array of silent and live auction items. Every penny raised benefits the Burroughs Fund whose mission is "to preserve quality programs for current Burroughs Community School students and provide a reserve fund for future Burroughs Community School needs." Last year, the auction raised over $77,000!!!

With financial support from the Burroughs Fund, this year our school will be able to improve/upgrade the leveled reading curriculum in the classrooms. Past support contributed to the supplemental math curriculum (Singapore math) and numerous top-of-line resources for students (Chromebook laptops, iPads and cross-country skis!).

 

There are a number of ways you can help make this event a success:

Attend the Auction — Early Bird Tickets are on sale NOW through October 13th for $30 per person. Thereafter, standard ticket prices are $35 per person in advance ($40 at the door) and include a buffet of delicious appetizers, a night of music with DJ Jake Rudh, and all the bidding you can handle. Fall for Burroughs
Become a Sponsor — Sponsorships are available at a variety of donation levels to offset the cost of the auction.  Sponsorship packages include a select number of tickets to the event and offer an excellent opportunity for a year-end, tax-deductible gift.  If desired, marketing opportunities for sponsors are available as well.  Sponsorships may be purchased online at www.bidpal.net/fallforburroughs17. Donate an Auction Item — The majority of the auction items come from YOU, our Burroughs families. We're looking for donations, big and small. Sporting event or theater tickets, vacation home access, electronics, restaurant gift certificates, and services all make great auction items. Host a Great Gathering — Great Gatherings are just one of the many items you can purchase at the auction and are huge fundraisers for Burroughs. They are themed parties, intimate dinners, grade-level gatherings or family activities where attendees pay to have fun! The hosts cover the costs and all proceeds go directly to the Burroughs Fund. We are looking for hosts right now! Join forces with friends as co-hosts or go solo. Big or small — we want them all! Get creative or we can inspire you with party ideas. Tell your friends and neighbors — Anyone and everyone is invited — especially parents of future Burroughs students and alumni!

What is a Silent Auction?

The Silent Auction started ten years ago as a way to bring together our community while raising money for the school. And it's a fabulous opportunity to meet other parents. Anyone and everyone is invited, including parents of current, past and future students as well as school staff. 

It's a fun night filled with danceable tunes and delicious food. While you're mingling, you can bid on an alluring array of items — gift cards to local restaurants and businesses, artwork by Burroughs' students, sports and theater tickets, events sponsored by teachers, vacation getaways for the whole family and the very popular Great Gatherings. 

All in all, it's a great parents' night out that benefits our school.

What is a Great Gathering?

Great Gatherings are themed parties, intimate dinners, grade-level gatherings, or family activities hosted by other Burroughs families. You purchase a ticket to attend the Great Gathering, the host/s (can be multiple families) cover the costs, and all proceeds go directly to the Burroughs Fund. Past events have included "Mistletoe and Martinis," "Family Barbecue Bash," "Pub & Trivia Night" and "First Grade Moms Brunch." We are looking for new hosts this year. Maybe it's you? We're happy to help with ideas. They are very fun, a great way to meet new friends at Burroughs and a huge fundraiser for the school.

What is the Burroughs Fund?

The money raised at the auction benefits the Burroughs Fund, which is intended to "preserve quality programs for current Burroughs Community School students and provide a reserve fund for future Burroughs Community School needs." With financial support from the Fund, our school has been able to integrate a rigorous, supplemental math curriculum, provide teacher support, and equip the school with additional safety resources.

What to wear?

Leave the ties and tulle at home. Basically it's dressy casual.

Learn more at How to BidPal. You'll need to register and create a profile. Providing a cell phone number is key to accessing the mobile bidding app. Please be complete with the information you provide to ensure a smooth bidding and check-out process.

Don't have a smart phone? Don't worry! There will be several roaming iPads in a Kiosk mode as well as volunteers available to help you bid on items & gatherings.

When Can I Shop?

Ticketed guests can purchase "Great Gatherings" and bid on auction items beginning November 6th.
