Burroughs Site Council Minutes February 22, 2011

 

1.      Conference Sign up process: Google docs as sign up method was discussed.  Conversation followed:

Any changes can be seen via revisional history option

Level of teacher effort to customize

Alternative sign-up process for families without computer access or language barrier

 

 

            Next steps: write up a summary document (Kristy, Mike Cronin,)

            Demo with district IT person at staff meeting

 

2.      Student Pick up Policy

Staff feedback (Jake)

            Not concerned with extra parent hand off area

            Concerned about parents walking between busses

           

Hill/Peterson feedback

            Concerned with James parking and parents walking between busses

            Don’t see problem with additional pick up spot at bus 7 sign

Discussed how other schools in area manage this pick up issue and Burroughs seems to be most organized and safe

 

Proposal to change policy to read:

 

Picking up your child(ren):

Kindergarten-Grade 3:

Please wait in the atrium for your child’s class to arrive and they will be released to you by the teacher

Alternate arrangements can be made between parents and teachers for walkers

Grade 4:

Please wait outside Door 3 for your child’s class to arrive and they will be released to you by the teacher.

Grade 5:

Please wait outside Door 5 for your child’s class to arrive and they will be released to you by the teacher.

 

Approval of separating out each grade level for clarity

Site council not comfortable with the ambiguity of “Alternate arrangements can be made between parents…”

 

Action item:Revise policy wording for next site council meeting before deciding.

 

3.      Principal report: Budget committee meeting 3/7 and 3/8. Site council will meet at a special meeting March 9 at 5 pm to vote on budget. Vote taken NOT to do a budget survey this year. Athough we encourage more communication to families about budget and any donation expected for next year and why.

Create  a Burroughs Budget Bulletin
