Critical Thinking Skills - These are the skills that give us the ability to analyze and synthesize information in order to make reasonable decisions or judgments. Critical thinking skills are learned and developed through practice over time and not fully developed until adolescence. The development of these skills allows us to be creative and flexible thinkers and problem solvers. Even before kindergarten, teachers and parents can support the development of critical thinking skills for our children. Check out this very short article that outlines some of the approaches adults can take to teach these important skills to children.
