Keep on Reading!
Sunday, February 23, 2014 1:50 PM

In the words of Dr. Seuss, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Read-a-thon 2014 comes to a close on Friday, February 28. Let’s have a strong finish! Here’s what happens next:

  • Classroom teachers will be sending home minutes read in the classroom for you to add to your totals.
  • Pledge forms, tally forms, and pledge money can be handed in to your child’s classroom teacher any time between March 3 and March 7.
  • Classrooms will win ice cream parties when all students in the class turn in signed forms. The goal is for every classroom to have an ice cream party! Please send in the forms by March 7.
  • Allergy-friendly options are available at ice cream and pizza parties. A link to a list of food ingredients will be provided in the next Bulletin. Please inform your child’s classroom teacher of any allergies.
  • The Read-a-thon closing ceremony is Friday, March 21, at 9:30. Everyone is invited.

Remember to Make the Most of Employer Matching Funds

Many employer benefit programs include a provision for “matching funds.” This means that if the employee contributes to an organization, such as a school, the employer will contribute the same amount to that school. Please check with your employer to see if they will match your contribution to the Read-a-thon. Your employer will provide you with the necessary information and forms to be turned in to the school.
