Dear Families,
‘All Day Kindergarten’ in Minnesota…It appears that the state of Minnesota is a little closer to funding ‘All Day Kindergarten’ for all students. There are still many details yet to come. This would not take effect for Kindergarten students this coming Fall but rather the 2014-15 school year.
Testing…We are wrapping up all of our Spring MCA & MAP testing. It shouldn’t be much longer. We appreciate our families for supporting students getting a good night’s sleep.
Incoming Kindergartener? Kindergarten Registration Night is Thursday, May 2 from 5-7 pm.
Biking to School…The weather has finally warmed up enough that our bikes can come out of storage. At Burroughs, we encourage riding bikes to school. We have a ‘safe bike routes’ map at the Burroughs website. Please review bike safety with your child(ren); and helmets are a must.
A lot going on…As we enter the last few weeks of school, please check the school calendar for upcoming events. There are so many programs and presentations, and we don’t want you to miss any of your child’s special events.
5th-Grade Math Competition Results…Congratulations to all our 5th-grade participants for a great showing in the recent math competition. Maren R. and Laura W. received perfect scores on math facts. Anna M. tied for 4th place (Honorable Mention) in the individual competition. Overall team competition (factoring in individual scores) 4th place (Honorable Mention) went to Claudia M., Henry V., Isaac W., and Laura W.
A BIG THANK YOU…I am so incredibly grateful to all of the families who came last Saturday to clean up our school campus. We have a beautiful location, but it takes a great deal of help to keep it pristine. This is a huge undertaking that could not be done without our co-chairs Mary Thill and Joanne Rosenstein. Also, thanks to Melissa Riebe and the contributions of our PTA.
Thanks and have a great week,
Mr. Cadotte
