It is my belief that fifth grade is the time to build student responsibility into our routines.  Students are responsible to bring their planner home each day and get it signed.  In the planner, each subject that is taught during the day should have a brief description of what we are studying.

For example:

Reading:  Text features of nonfiction

Language:  Personal Narrative

Science: Levers and Pulleys

Social Studies: Historical Documents

Math: Order of Operations

Each box should have the brief description, as well as any homework or class assignments.  Social Studies and science are not taught in the same day, and one box will most likely be blank each day.

You may write notes in planners for me or any other teacher, but please ask your child to show the note as well.  Email still is the best way to reach all of us.
