Read-A-Thon Benefits All Students
Tuesday, February 17, 2015 9:30 AM

Have you ever wondered how our annual Read-A-Thon benefits your student? There are two goals of the Read-A-Thon. The first is to promote a love of reading among our students. The second is to raise funds to be used by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA).

Profits from the Read-A-Thon help fund many of the programs we have come to expect at Burroughs: Raz-Kids, (an online reading program that complements what teachers do in the classroom), the fifth-grade ski trip, the second-grade ice-fishing outing, and the fourth-grade overnight to Deep Portage, just to name a few. Funds may also be used for buses, substitute teachers, gym equipment, and media equipment. In addition, each year, teachers and specialists are given $350 from the PTA to use to enhance their classrooms.

It takes a lot of resources, volunteerism, and a commitment to our children to keep Burroughs the outstanding school it is. Thank you for your contributions great and small.
