Take Burroughs Students on an Art Adventure
Tuesday, September 13, 2016 7:00 AM

Are you looking for a fun way to get involved in your child's class or other classes at Burroughs? Art Adventure is your answer. Art Adventure, a program sponsored by the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, introduces students to works of art from a variety of cultures. Volunteering in the program includes visiting the MIA to learn about the art from a trained professional and then discussing the pieces with our students in their art class using reproductions and other props.

Volunteers participate in training (day or evening) at the MIA in September or October. In November, volunteers present the art twice during art classes. (Kindergarten may have a slightly different schedule.) Volunteers can also attend the MIA field trip in December with their student's class, if they like. If you are unsure about the time commitment, you may be able to pair up with another parent in the classroom. To find out more, email Amy Marquardt.
