Teri Emery- Advanced Differentiation/Instructional Specialist
Teri Emery

My name is Teri Emery. This is my third year at Burroughs in this position for MPS, Advanced Differentiation Specialist. My role is to support teachers in meeting the needs of advanced learners in their classrooms. I am also our school's Instructional Specialist, so I work closely with teachers and their students each day.

I have lived and taught in several different states so I have lots of different experiences to share with Burroughs.  I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Drake University with a degree in Elementary Education. I then went to graduate school at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a Masters in Early Childhood Education and Reading. After grad school, I taught a 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade multi-age classroom in Iowa City and a first grade classroom in Des Moines. Our family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where I taught 2nd grade,

Charlie
then a gifted clustered 3rd grade classroom. I found my passion for gifted education when I completed the gifted certification program at Utah State. Most recently, I was an elementary gifted resource coordinator in Norman, Oklahoma where I worked with students and teachers in a K-5 school.

I am so happy to be living in Minnesota. My husband, Dan, is from Wisconsin, so we are happy to be close to home. He is a writing professor and works for the Writing Engaged Curriculum program at the University of Minnesota. Our daughter, Maeve, is a junior at Minnetonka High School. We also have an adorable dog named Charlie.

My job is to support teachers and students, and I love supporting parents too. Please contact me if you have questions about Talent Development or Advanced Learners.
