Week on Wheels and Beachcombers Recap from the PE Team
Tuesday, October 04, 2016 8:10 AM

The annual Burroughs Week on Wheels "WOW" event was a big success! More than 351 students from thirteen classes took to the bike paths for a tour of Lake Harriet. About sixty students at a time biked around the lake during PE class (that's more than 700 individual laps around the lake and more than 2000 combined miles)! There were more than 300 bicycles in the gym, and many students were willing to share. Students also used good bicycle safety skills and respectful bicycle etiquette. Thank you to more than 40 parent helpers and classroom teachers who provided supervision and support.

The Beachcombers in kindergarten, first, and second grades jogged or rode a scooter to and from South Beach at Lake Harriet. The students made sand castles and learned about respectful beach and trail etiquette. There were more than 432 students from sixteen classes who participated. Thanks to the 68 parents who volunteered to run or scoot with the students as they embarked on their expedition.
