Last week was a good week of Distance Learning. I enjoyed hearing from students as they shared artifacts of their heritage with me through Seesaw and emails. I was able to spend lots of time in virtual classrooms and even lead a Morning Meeting on Friday. What a joy! Despite all the challenges we face with Distance Learning our students are staying positive and persevering!
Last week Minneapolis Public Schools made available the MPS COVID Dashboard. This tool summarizes data around the key factors that MPS is considering in a return to classrooms. You can visit this dashboard for weekly updates on COVID rates, family and staff availability, and building and equipment readiness. In addition, you should have received an email on Monday from MPS regarding return to school preferences. Please respond to this email by October 19. This information is key in helping the district plan for the eventual return to classrooms.
Thank you to all who will be attending conferences this evening and tomorrow. Conferences are an important opportunity for teachers and caregivers to connect. These opportunities are more important than ever, especially in Distance Learning. I hope this time yields meaningful conversations about your children and how we can best support them in school.
Have a wonderful week and please feel free to reach out by phone at 612-668-3293, or email me with any questions that may arise.
