February is Read-A-Thon Month!
Wednesday, February 12, 2020 10:15 AM

Going Far, Reading Star - It's the 20th annual Read-A-Thon at Burroughs! We hope your family is enjoying reading month at Burroughs. Thank you to everyone who attended the 2nd Annual Book Event on Saturday! It was wonderful seeing our community celebrate reading together. Thank you to all of the dedicated volunteers who made this event a success!

Students are busy tracking minutes read and community guest readers have started visiting classrooms to share in the joy of reading with the students. If you'd like to be a guest reader in your child's classroom you can sign up here .

Throughout the month, students can collect pledges from family and friends based on how many minutes they read. Guest readers from the community will also be making special appearances in classrooms. At the end of the month, the school will celebrate with a Closing Ceremony and its special skit, student prizes, classroom parties and the Principal's Challenge. If students read a total of 2 million minutes, Principal Bartl will get "slimed" at the Closing Ceremony and wear a unicorn costume for the remainder of the day!

The 2020 Read-A-Thon fundraising goal is $90,000. These important funds directly benefit each and every Burroughs student through Singapore math curriculum, classroom enrichment programs like Bravo and Art Adventure, after school programs like Lego League and Destination Imagination, field trips and special programs for every grade, and more.
