Morning Meeting - Morning Meeting is one of our morning routines here at Burroughs that takes place in classrooms between 9:10 and 9:45 am. Morning Meeting is one component of the Responsive Classroom Approach which aligns with our district's priority of Social Emotional Learning. Each morning students engage with their teacher and classmates in a morning meeting which includes four distinct structures - a greeting, sharing, a quick activity, and a morning message. The purposes of the meeting are to:

  • Set the tone for learning and establish a climate of trust.
  • Motivate children by addressing the needs to feel a sense of significance, belonging and to have fun.
  • Merge social, emotional and intellectual learning.
  • Teach and practice important social and academic skills.
