Differentiation: A commonly used term in education that relates to what teachers do to meet the needs of the diverse learners in their classrooms. In a differentiated classroom, rather than relying on whole group instruction (which is often too low for some learners and too high for others), everyone in class has a chance to use learning strategies that are appropriate to their needs. Students work in flexible groups that keep them interested and challenged.
