Note from the Assistant Principal
Tuesday, January 9, 2018 9:20 AM

Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a wonderful and safe holiday season with your family and friends. Our first week back will be an exciting one with the fifth-grade spelling bee and the fourth- and fifth-grade downhill ski trip to Hyland Hills. Other events this month are the Read-a-thon opening ceremony on January 31 and a variety of outdoor winter activities in PE classes.
In addition to these fun events, our first- through fifth-grade students will begin taking the Winter FAST assessments in both reading and math. This test provides teachers with good information about how students are progressing in reading and math. This assessment will help teachers make important instructional decisions as we move into the second semester.
Principal Bartl and I would also like to take this opportunity to wish our fabulous secretary, Melody West, the best of luck as she embarks on a new career opportunity. Her last day at Burroughs will be Friday, January 12. Melody has been a part of the Burroughs school community for the past 22 years. Melody's dedication to the students, staff, and families has been an inspiration to us all.
Please make sure to check out the upcoming dates and announcements sections. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions that may arise.
