Note from the Principal

Dear Families,

This week is American Indian Awareness and Family Involvement Week. In honor of this week our classrooms are engaged in a variety of activities and lessons to teach our students about American Indian history and culture in the United States and in Minnesota. In addition, some of our 5th grade leaders will be sharing information they have learned about American Indian history and culture by reading facts over the loud speaker each morning. Next week, leading up to the Thanksgiving Break, we will have a representative form the Minneapolis Public Schools Department of Indian Education presenting cultural trunks to our 2nd through 5th graders. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to deepen our learning about this important part of our history and culture in the United States. Families are welcome to join their children for these presentations. Please reach out to your child's teacher for the date and time.

At this point you should have received 1st Quarter report cards. This is just one opportunity for teachers to communicate student progress towards mastery of grade level standards. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions regarding the report card and your child's progress.

With the Thanksgiving Holiday upon us, I want to express my gratitude for each and every student, family, teacher, and staff member in our community. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of the Burroughs community. Thank you for sharing your children with us!

Have a wonderful week and safe Thanksgiving Holiday! As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions that may arise.
Sincerely,

Ana Bartl
