Note from the Principal

Dear Families,
Last week was a busy and fun filled week with MIA field trips for Art Adventure and our annual Sinfonia performance.  The next two weeks will continue to be full of fun events for our students and families as we round out 2019.
It was great to see so many families at the Sinfonia performances last Thursday!  Our 5th graders had a wonderful performance singing two songs with the Sinfonia Orchestra.  We are very fortunate to have this experience for our students.
I know we will continue to see lots of families this week with the annual Family Fun Run.  Our students have been preparing for this event for weeks and are looking forward to showing off their running stamina.  The level of family participation in events such as these are constant reminders about what a special community we have here at Burroughs.  Thank you all for everything you do to make Burroughs the wonderful place that it is for students, staff and families!
In addition to many fun events over the next two weeks, our students will also begin taking the winter FAST test. This test provides teacher's with good information about how students are progressing towards mastery of state standards in math and reading.  The winter FAST data also supports teachers in making important instructional decisions as we move into the second semester of the school year.
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions that may arise.
