Dear Families,

With the first quarter of the school year almost behind us, this is a great time to reflect on, revisit, and renew our goals for the school year. Just as teachers and families have goals for our students and children, it's important for students to set goals and develop a plan for achieving those goals; in fact, it's an important skill to learn and a good habit to develop as they become lifelong learners.
As we embark on the second quarter, consider talking to your children about their goals, both academic and social, for the next part of the school year. Help them to break down their goals into achievable steps, provide feedback as they make progress, and encourage them to reflect on how they are doing with their goals. Report cards can be a great tool to facilitate a goal-setting conversation with your child. Engaging in these conversations with children can have a positive impact on their experience both in school and in the real world.
Remember, there is no school for students on November 2 and 3. These days are for teachers to engage in professional learning opportunities and to work on report cards. Report cards will be sent home with students the week of November 13. If you have questions once you receive report cards, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Enjoy another long weekend, and please feel free to email me with any questions that may arise.
