Note from the Principal

Dear Families,
As we close out the month of February, I want to express my sincere gratitude for all that our families do to support our Burroughs community.  Over and over again, I am awed by the spirit of participation and sharing that I see.  The participation by families in our Read-a-Thon, the turnout of families for National African American Parent Involvement Day, the staff and families who have helped to coordinate and expressed interest in attending our upcoming book discussion event, and the number of families who turned out for conferences are evidence of this.  Thank you for sharing your time, energy, input, and resources to help make our school the wonderful place that it is!
In light of the recent school shooting in Florida, I want to assure you that we do everything in our power to ensure that Burroughs is a safe place for students and staff.  We are required to follow federal, state, and district protocols for safety and security. These protocols include engaging students and staff in a variety of drills throughout the school year so that we all know how to respond in the case of an emergency.  Please refer to our Burroughs Calendar Handbook for details about the drills we conduct.  More information on our district's safety and security protocols can be found here
Thank you to all who took the time to take the family survey we sent out and to share your thoughts regarding the programming we provide for our students here at Burroughs.  We value your input and your feedback will help to guide our decision making as we begin to plan for next school year.
Please make sure to check out the announcements and important dates below.  As always, feel free to reach out to me with any questions that may arise.
