Dear Families,
It's mid-September and we are back in full swing!  We concluded our second week of school with an assembly to celebrate the hard work students and teachers have done to set a positive tone for learning and to learn important academic and social rituals and routines.  I hope your children are coming home excited and eager to share some of what they are learning in their various subjects and specialist classes!
Thank you to all who turned out for curriculum nights on Wednesday and Thursday, and I look forward to seeing many more of you tonight.  Our curriculum nights are a wonderful opportunity for families to get a sense of what a day in the life of a student here at Burroughs is like.  If you were unable to attend, please look for communication coming home from your child's teacher regarding curriculum, afterschool programming, and other important grade level announcements.
Later this week, our students and staff will be participating in a Peace Walk to commemorate the International Day of Peace which is celebrated across the globe on September 21.  Our Peace Walk will take place on Thursday, September 19 at 2:00 pm.   At this time our students and staff will walk peacefully across 50th street, around Lynnhurst field and back to Burroughs.  For more details about this event, see the announcements section below.  This is a new event for us at Burroughs and will hopefully be an event that becomes one of many Burroughs traditions that students and staff look forward to each year.
Please feel free to reach out by phone, email, or in person, with any questions that may arise.  I look forward to seeing many of you over the next couple of weeks!
