Dear Families,
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful long weekend last week.  The autumn weather and fall colors are beautiful right now! This is my favorite time of year!
We had a fantastic turnout for conferences.  Thank you for taking the time to come and talk to your children's teachers. I hope that you found conferences to be a meaningful experience and opportunity to partner with your child's teacher.  Also, a huge thanks to the PTA for providing lunch to staff on Wednesday. As always, it was a delicious spread!
With the first quarter of the school year almost behind us, this is a great time to reflect on, revisit, and renew our goals for the school year.  Just as teachers and families have goals for our students and children, teaching students to set goals and develop a plan for achieving those goals is an important skill to learn and habit to develop in becoming life-long learners.
As we prepare for the second quarter, consider talking to your children about their goals, both academic and social, for the next part of the school year.  Help them to break their goals down into achievable steps, provide feedback as they make progress, and encourage them to reflect on how they are doing with their goals.  The conversations you had with teachers at conferences are a perfect segue to facilitate a goal setting conversation with your child. Engaging in these conversations with children can have a positive impact on their experience both at school and outside of school.
