Read-A-Thon Gratitude
The PTA wishes to extend sincere gratitude to the entire 2019 Read-A-Thon committee for the endless hours of preparation, guest readers, tallies, prizes, parties, and so much more! We also thank devoted chair Jen Thorp for bringing this lucrative fundraiser to life this year. Thank you!
Thank you to all of the students and families who read more than 2,600,000 minutes and helped to raise $80,000 for the annual PTA budget!

We are seeking a Co-chair for the 2020 Read-A-Thon. Please reach out to Jen Thorp or Jennie Hartman with interest or questions.

Thank you to our amazing Read-A-Thon sponsors!

Join the Burroughs, Ramsey, Lyndale, and Green Central school communities in cheering on the Minnesota Twins vs. the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, May 11 at 1:10 pm. Your entire family is invited for fun and baseball. It's a great opportunity to meet new families and new friends outside of the classroom. Tickets will be available for purchase in the office after spring break. Tickets are $11 each; checks can be made out to the Burroughs PTA with Twins Tickets in the memo line. Everyone is invited and welcome at this annual event; if ticket price is a barrier to attending, complimentary tickets are available through our Social Worker, Beth Alvarez. Contact Jennie Hartman, PTA Volunteer Coordinator with questions. We hope to see you there!

Seeking Burroughs PTA Officers for 2019-20 School Year

Help support the Burroughs PTA mission by serving as an Officer of the PTA:
  • Promote family involvement in the education of Burroughs students
  • Support school goals through projects and fundraising
  • Build and support a strong Burroughs community of students, parents, families, teachers, and administrators.
We are seeking dedicated Burroughs parents to fill the two remaining open officer positions for the 2019-20 school year:
  • Co-Treasurer
  • Volunteer Coordinator
The PTA meets five times per year to vote on budgets and other financial decisions and discuss academics and extracurricular activities while aligning with the Burroughs mission. We welcome all interested applicants--join us at the April meeting OR email us to set up an informal meeting to see if one of these engaging and rewarding volunteer positions is a good fit for you!
Please contact us here to learn more about officer positions.

Volunteer News
There are many fun ways to volunteer at Burroughs this spring: Bike & Walk to School Day, Teacher Appreciation Breakfast, Spring Picnic, Crayon Initiative, 5th Grade Ceremony, 5th Grade Party, Spring Book Fair, and Campus Clean-Up. Visit our signup page or email Jennie Hartman for the most up-to-date volunteer opportunities and information.

Save the Date: Last PTA Meeting of the School Year on Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30pm
Join us at the last PTA meeting of the school year! This is an important meeting to attend as incoming PTA officers will be elected by PTA members and the annual PTA budget for the 2019-20 school year will be reviewed and approved. Principal Bartl will also give her final State of the School for the year. If you have not attended a meeting, they are casual gatherings where parents, school administrators, and teachers gather to discuss and plan for the future of the school community while aligning with the Burroughs mission.

All are welcome, invited, and encouraged to attend! Childcare will be provided for ages 3+.
Burroughs has many opportunities where families can help with school fundraising. Fundraising is crucial to our school as it allows the PTA to fund our Singapore Math Curriculum, gives every teacher and specialist $350 in annual funds, underwrites every field trip, funds in-school and after school enrichment programs like Art Adventure and LEGO League, and so much more! Money raised from the fall auction goes directly to Achieve MPLS to fund operating expenses and two teacher emeritus positions at Burroughs. We invite you to review the 2018-19 school budget here.

Please reach out to any current PTA officer with questions!
