School Safety - With the recent school shooting tragedies, your children may have questions or may be experiencing some anxiety regarding their safety at school. The safety of ourstudents is of the utmost importance to us and is the rationale for the safety drills that we engage students and staff in throughout the school year. This article from the National Association of School Psychologists was shared by one of our parents. It is a good resource for adults if children have questions about the recent tragedies.
March 14, Hands Around Burroughs - Thank you to all who have reached out to ask about March 14. Burroughs is following the district's lead on this and will NOT be participating in this event.
Lunchroom Volunteers Needed - If you are looking for an opportunity to volunteer at Burroughs, we can always use an extra pair of hands and a smiling face in the cafeteria during lunches. If you are interested in this opportunity, please sign up at this Google doc link.
Drop-Off Circle - To ensure a safe arrival to and dismissal from school, please review the drop off circle procedures on our website. Please only use the drop-off circle if you have students in kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grades.
Budget - We have received our budget allocations and are working to create a budget for School Year 2018-19 that is equitable and maintains high-quality, student-centered programming that is in alignment with our district's priorities of Equity, Social Emotional Learning, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Due to the $33-million-dollar deficit that the district is facing, school budgets have taken a 2.5%-3% reduction. As we work with staff and Site Council to make challenging decisions regarding the budget, please feel free to reach out to myself and/or Ms. Woods with any questions or concerns that arise.
