The Read-a-Thon Is Off To A Great Start!
Tuesday, February 5, 2019 9:30 AM

February is Read-a-Thon month, the PTA's largest fundraiser! The Read-a-Thon is in full swing, and students are already racking up those minutes! During Read-a-Thon month, students will collect pledges based on how many minutes they will read during the month. All of the effort and the time spent reading are celebrated with a special skit, student prizes, and classroom parties at the end of the month. Join in on the journey!
Community Reading Event on Feb 9
Saturday, February 9, 2018
Burroughs Community School 2-4 pm
Families are invited to participate in the Burroughs Read-a-Thon's first Community Reading Event. Families will have an opportunity for students to earn reading minutes at read-aloud stations featuring diverse books, independent reading stations, read with certified therapy dogs, make bookmarks, create graphic novels, and select a new-to-you book from the over 1,700 books collected at the book swap!  Please note the time change from the Read-a-Thon packets that went home last week. If you'd like to help this event become a success by assisting with the reading, making bookmarks, or working the graphic novel stations, sign up here.
This event is co-hosted/sponsored by the Read-a-Thon Committee, Girl Scouts of Burroughs, the Families for Equity and Justice Diverse Literature Committee, and Classroom Champs Committee.
