Who is Ms. Spooner?

I graduated from Concordia College, St. Paul, with my undergraduate (Major in Elementary Education, Minor in Psychology, concentration in Special Education).  In 2000, I graduated from Bethel College with my Masters Degree and Special Education license.

My first year teaching I spent subbing in Minneapolis and other districts before I accepted a long call sub position at Bancroft Elementary in Minneapolis.  The following school year found me teaching at the American School in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  I taught 4th grade to Honduran and American Embassy children.  While in Honduras, I traveled extensively through Central America. I saw the Mayan ruins, learned to scuba dive, island hopped and saw as much of Central America as time allowed.     When I returned from Honduras, I was offered a contract in Minneapolis at Morris Park Elementary.  I taught at Morris Park for 10 years until it closed, then I came to Burroughs.

During my time at Morris Park I was an exchange teacher in Apollo Bay, Victoria, Australia. I taught a 3/4th grade combination and explored the beautiful eucaluptus forests and areas along Great Ocean Road and made many friends.

I have taught all grade levels 1-5, Title One reading, and combination classrooms. Coming to Burroughs I taught the 4/5th grade combination for two years and 4th grade for 2 years.  This is where I began to meet many of you! This is my 13th or something year teaching 3rd grade at Burroughs.

I have two beautiful daughters who both attended Minneapolis Public Schools (yay Burroughs!).

I love working with my team.  We work hard together to make learning fun!
